Shove It, Haters: Buzzfeed Is “Unequivocally” Feminist

Win.

In case you had any doubts about Buzzfeed’s commitment to feminism after looking at their diversity-minded hiring policy, their patriarchy-smashing Harry Potter retellings, and their gender role-reversal videos that ask geeky guys the same boneheaded questions girls get asked all the time, then don’t worry: their Tumblr just spelled it out for everybody.

If you or the device you’re viewing this on have a hard time reading images, here’s that question and answer for you again in text form:

Anonymous asked: Hey Buzzfeed. I like a lot of the stuff you guys do, but I’ve noticed something lately that makes me (and I assume a lot of other people) question whether or not to read your website. It seems like a disproportionate number of your articles and videos cater to women and so-called “feminists”. This very blog recently posted a picture that mocked the new and popular #Meninist activist movement. Do you REALLY want your readers to think you support so-called “feminist” ideology?

Yes. Unequivocally yes.

Mic drop.

Sure, Buzzfeed isn’t perfect; they’ve had some problematic articles (it can happen!), but this vocal and blunt support for equality is something we hope to see from every site one day. I might have said this already, but: shove it, haters.
