Ridley Scott’s Putting A Pin In Alien To Make 3 More Prometheus Films

Aliens movie

If you’re waiting on another Alien film, cool your jets, because Ridley Scott wants to make more Prometheus films first. Technically, those are still Alien films, if you tilt your head sideways and whisper “it’s a prequel, it’ll all make sense eventually” … but that “eventually” could be a while. Scott says the plot of the upcoming three Prometheus films won’t reach Alien‘s timeline until a few movies down the line:

It won’t be in the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise … The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.

Okay. Sure. Sounds good. But … that’s a lot of movies in the hopper before we circle back around to Ripley and the rest of the gang.

Do you think this means Ridley Scott’s not on board with Neill Blomkamp’s plans for another Alien movie (which Sigourney Weaver has discussed recently)? And what else do you all think Ridley Scott might hope to include in the next several Prometheus films that could possibly lead into Alien? This franchise is becoming quite the twisty pretzel, huh?
