Set Your Sights On This New Brave Featurette From Disney

On the list of things we here at The Mary Sue are excited about this year, Pixar’s Brave is near the top of the list (actually, probably at the very top now that The Hunger Games is out). If, like us, you can’t wait until June 22, hit the jump to view a brand-new featurette. It’s kind of like a trailer but narrated completely by Merida. Which is awesome. Go! Go! What are you waiting for!? 

The video comes from Disney’s French YouTube page and is likely the first in a series of featurettes. Thank you, France.

    Rebelle means just that: rebel. I believe they changed the name for the French version. Brave is actually ‘brave” in French (depending on the pronoun, of course).

    Actually, in french, “brave” can as well be understood as “courageous” or “valiant”, but also as “decent”.

    “C’est un brave type”> “he’s a decent/good/nice guy”. That’s the idea…

    It doesn’t necessarily convey the wild and strong aspects of Merida’s personality .
    So, I guess that’s why it became “Rebelle”.
