“Freshest Donuts” Employee Pays Tribute To Mitch Hedberg

Just file it under "D," guy.

With great power comes great responsibility–so when a Freshest Donut employee was given the ability to decide what was printed on the store’s receipts, he used it to honor a routine from the late, great Mitch Hedberg.

The employee posted the unnecessary proof of donut transaction on Reddit, writing, “I was given the ability to control what gets printed on the receipts at the doughnut shop where I work. This is the first thing I did.”

Don’t worry, he added: “my boss actually found it hilarious, which is why my job is so awesome.”

Unfortunately the employee  says he’s dismayed that news outlets like the International Business Times think his “Reddit exploits” are noteworthy, but obviously his joke seems to have filled a Mitch-shaped hole in the public consciousness.

The receipt message has reportedly now been changed to Matt Groening’s quote: “Donuts, is there anything they can’t do?”

Journalism, friends. It’s a beautiful thing.
