We’re still reeling from last night’s huge announcement – Sony and Marvel finally struck a deal to get Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what’s still unclear is which direction Marvel will take him.
According to the release, Sony still has creative control. “Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films,” it read. And we know producers producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach said Peter Parker will always be their cinematic Spider-Man. The official release from Marvel yesterday also had a quote from Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, “This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future.”
Now, we’d like to think “Peter Parker’s story into the future” leaves the door open for Miles Morales, who technically is continuing Peter’s story in the comic books. But we’re also not holding our breath for that to actually happen. So with that in mind, here are eight actors we hope Marvel and Sony will consider as their new Peter Parker.
