Here Be Dragons

Quick, Watch This The Legend of Korra Book 3 Teaser Before It Gets Yanked [VIDEO]

We don’t know for sure that it will get yanked, but what with it not appearing on any official Nickelodeon YouTube channel, and considering the dialogue is in Dutch… yeah, something tells me this might go away soon.

Edit: Welp, that was quick. Yanked. Congrats to you if you watched it.

PLEASE say the biggest ‘Change’ to this series has been in firing the writers and getting actual competent ones…

    … and it’s gone.

  • Hannele Kormano

They’ve still got gifsets up at the original source!

Well, missed it, but ever since Bolin became a molester (Mako and everything attached to him was bad enough already, but seriously, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!?!?) the series died for me anyway, so unless they get rid of the douche Brothers and make Lin Beifong as competent and badass as she was in the first season, I’ll be staying far away from this franchise. Shame really, but some things just go too far.

I guess you missed that whole part where the show pointed out Bolin learned his creepy behavior from his creepy girlfriend. I was bothered that the show never addressed the full toxicity of their relationship playing it for laughs, but it was pretty clear that they were trying to show young kids that Bolin learned his disregard for consent from Eska.

I admit that I didn’t catch any hint about Bolin “learning” from Eska. However, that still leaves the fact that in the end, Bolin was REWARDED for his creepy behaviour when the woman he molested threw herself at him right after he saved the president. Because that’s a great lesson: If you are a creep, don’t worry, just Keep being a creep and you’ll be instantly forgiven as soon as you do something heroic.
As a matter of fact, Bolin seemed a-okay with the redheaded actor (forgot her Name, sorry) wanting to be his girlfriend for real because the writers said so, but then shortly afterwards, the Show actually tries to Play the “romance” between Bolin and Eska straight, with Bolin genuinely Feeling sorry about breaking up and honestly wanting to get back together.
In no way was it even hinted at him “breaking up” with the actor. So what, did the writers want to add cheating to the list for good measure? But I guess he learned the art of two-timing from his brother |(

I didn’t read him as accepting that Ginger wanted him now. I saw him realizing that Ginger only wanted the idealized version of him, not the real him, and blowing her off, which is why when Eska showed up later(this bugs me) he’s happy to be with her, because she liked him for just Bolin, not Nut-tuck(sorry, couldn’t help myself).

It wasn’t hinted he broke up with Ginger, because aside from not fleeing when she embraced him, I thought it was pretty clear that by this time, he wasn’t interested anymore.

The show walks a fine line in trying to portray healthy teen relationships, like how Korra wasn’t vindictive over Asami, they even became friends, while playing terrible unhealthy tropes for laughs. They don’t always succeed, but it’s better than crap like Twilight, that portrays a deeply unhealthy obsession as “TRU LUV”

I watch the show with my 12 year old, and she was deeply disturbed by first Eska and then Bolin’s behavior. I get that people didn’t like what was done to his character, but I’m just happy to have media that points to someone acting in a bad way, and demonstrates that it’s wrong.

Ugh, I really hope the kick out the romance in S3/4 cause they handled it soooooo poorly in S1/2: needless love triangles, underdeveloped characters and shitty behaviour without properly calling characters out. There are still good bits that keep me watching so far (admittedly most of them are tied to ATLA and its mythology) but I can’t help feeling somewhat disappointed with the franchise.
