With more episodes to devote to the characters, plenty of The Legend of Korra fans are hoping we’ll get to learn just as much about Mako and Bolin as we will about Korra and the avatar state. Fortunately, a new short from Nickelodeon shows the brothers in their youth—in an exciting new style of animation, no less—trying to survive on the streets of Republic City. This is only the first part of a two-part short, but with no Korra for over a year, we’ll take what we can get. Head past the break for some new footage from Book 2, where Korra displays some questionable morals to rival those of the young Fire Ferret brothers. Book 2 will air September of this year.
