Oh boy, this is a doozy…

Suffice to say, if you don’t want to be ruined for a possible plot point for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary, don’t read ahead.

SPOILERS.

Ok, so John Hurt was announced as part of the cast for the anniversary episode along with David Tennant and Billie Piper. We knew who the latter two were playing of course but no character name was given for Hurt. Though the actor recently spoke to a reporter and seemingly let it slip:

Mr Hurt, who lives near Cromer, earlier told the EDP he had just finished shooting a Dr Who 3D special in which he plays “part of the Doctor” in a “kind of trinity” which includes David Tennant.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Oh man, an old Doctor who may or may not be part of an alternate reality. This also fuels the completely random rumor going around that says Hurt is actually the 9th Doctor (thanks to his leather jacket costume on set). Thoughts on what this trinity might actually be?
