Ghostbust the Whip this Weekend and Cruise Around Town in a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Lyft

Celebrate America's birthday the way our forefathers intended.

If you’re going to be in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston or Washington D.C. this July 4th weekend, then you have the option of taking a ride in true style. As part of a collaboration between Lyft and Ghostbusters, Lyft users can grab a ride in an Ecto-1 Friday, July 1st and Saturday, July 2nd between 10 am and 8 pm local time.

To request an Ecto, all you have to do is put your Lyft mobile app into “Ghost Mode.” Ecto-1 replicas will be available, as well as two Ectos used to film the new Ghostbusters. In addition to the sheer thrill of cruising the city in a vehicle designed for busting ghosts, passengers will also be given refreshments (green-slime-filled Twinkies and Ecto Cooler!) and entered to win two tickets to the Ghostbusters world premiere, July 9th in L.A.

Although I like to remain healthily critical of marketing gimmicks, the idea of riding through the streets of New York this weekend drinking Ecto Cooler and waving at the haters as I roll on by is extremely tempting. Considering our founding fathers are probably all ghosts now, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 4th.
