George Takei Has a Perfume, And It’s Called “Eau My”

If you’re wondering what George Takei’s official perfume smells like, according to the description on Amazon there are notes of mandarin zest, Italian bergamot, night-blooming jasmine, white freesia petals, grated ginger, and fresh ozone. Oh, and once it dries you’ll smell like “sensual woods” and “soft skin musk.” Eau my, indeed.

The scent of “fresh ozone”? Having been an environmental engineering major in undergrad, I am familiar with ozone in a few different settings. High in the atmosphere, it helps shield us from UV radiation. In water quality management, it is used as a disinfectant. But in the atmosphere at ground level–where you can actually smell it–it is known as “smog.” So…it makes you smell like smog? Am I missing something?

Other than that confusing bit, this is quite funny.

I think it’s supposed to be more like the smell of electricity. Like when you plug something in and get a spark. Not unpleasant.
