Zappos Eats $1.6 Million Pricing Loss Due to Computer Glitch

Zappos might be known for their customer service, but it cost them and their sister site 6pm.com more than a pretty penny this weekend. 6pm, known for highlighting daily discounts up to 70% off on branded products, accidentally capped the cost of all items listed on the site at $49.95 from midnight to 6AM on Friday. Yes, that means you could have bought $1,100 shoes for $49.95, or 96% off.
Even though they don’t technically have to, they are honoring the purchases made during the hours the glitch was in effect, even at the cost of their CEO’s ice cream:
