Woman was told to return ‘tomorrow’ for her Walgreens prescription. Then it apparently suddenly became available after mentioning her new insurance
Indecisive

A woman had an experience with Walgreens she never anticipated and cannot make sense of, and she is asking her audience to help her decipher it. Melissa (melissalomuscio) uploaded a TikTok video in which she narrated that her prescription at Walgreens wasn’t available at first, but suddenly became available the moment she mentioned she was getting on a new insurance plan the next day.
Here’s where everything started. Melissa said she called Walgreens to ask whether her medicines had arrived, and they said yes and told her to pick them up. However, when she went there to pick up her prescription, they told her it wasn’t ready. She told them she had spoken to someone before arriving, but their response remained unchanged.
However, Melissa mentioned that the moment she told the person that her current insurance was expiring that day and that she would be getting on a new one the next day, they went back and came back with her prescription. “And I said. I said, ‘Sir, why didn’t you have it before? Why are you gatekeeping it? Why are you telling me to come back tomorrow when you had it?’” Melissa recalled saying to the person at Walgreens.
“He didn’t want to do the work”
Melissa ended her video by asking everyone to share their conclusions about why this could have happened to her, since she needed a second opinion. She said, “Like, what is that about? I’ve tried to think of, like, reasons, and I can’t think of one good reason why he wouldn’t have just given it to me. It’s like a…? Why is it like a…? I don’t know. Does anybody know? Odd.”
People listened and came up with their own reasons. Some thought her insurance was the reason. One person wrote, “Because he didn’t want to do the work and realized he would have to do more work the next day because he would have to switch insurances, he decided to give it to you.” Another said, “You got stock that was counted for another patient as a favor bc you mentioned insurance change and the pharmacist knows that would probably delay you actually being able to collect your meds tomorrow.”
A few others went into more technical detail and provided their reasons. One person commented, “It’s called cenfill and he pulled it back and got it ready for you while you stood there.” Another said the same thing and wrote, “It was already billed; it was probably just sent to the central fill pharmacy.” A few other people also said the same thing in the comments.
Some people shared their own experiences with Walgreens. One person wrote, “Me and my husband have the same doctor. Walgreens told me that my doctor was blocked from sending them Rx and then proceeded to fill the exact same Rx from the exact same doctor for my husband.” Another person said, “I called to refill my prescription, they checked the stock and I said I’ll pick it up tomorrow. Went the next day.. nope no prescription for you. What?”
If you scroll through TikTok, you will find a few videos about Walgreens and customers having trouble getting their prescriptions. Because of that, the pharmacy chain has developed a somewhat bad reputation online, and Melissa’s experience only adds to it.
