Trust wore a disguise
Testing a partner’s loyalty can answer a question, but it can also create a whole new problem. One woman decided that simply trusting her boyfriend was not enough. She wanted to see what he would do when he thought she wasn’t watching.
Some relationship tests are fairly harmless, like waiting to see how long a boyfriend will leave expired milk in the fridge. Others require considerably more planning. In this case, one fake woman apparently wasn’t enough.
According to TikTok creator Bells (@bella_annalisse), she created three catfish accounts to find out whether her boyfriend Cody would cheat. She picked women she thought he would find attractive and built up the profiles to make them convincing. Getting him to take the bait, however, proved harder than she expected.
Something wasn’t adding up
Bells started with a blonde because Cody had previously told her he found blondes attractive. She spent a couple of days making the account look believable, following people and gaining around 50 followers before messaging him.
Her preparation didn’t have the intended effect. When the fake woman called Cody cute on Instagram, he immediately blocked the account. Bells was pleased but suspected he might have dismissed the profile as a bot rather than rejected it because he had a girlfriend.
So she made the test harder. Bells claims she went onto Cody’s phone and accepted a message request from one of her fake accounts. She then told him she was going to shower while he cooked in the kitchen. Instead, she messaged him from the fake profile about buying a Mustang.
Cody responded almost immediately and happily discussed Mustangs and manual cars. Bells didn’t consider his quick replies suspicious because answering messages quickly was normal for him.
Things changed when she asked whether he could teach her to drive stick. Cody refused, telling the supposed stranger that he had a girlfriend whom he loved. Bells continued pushing and even suggested his girlfriend might be fine with it. He still wouldn’t agree.
After several attempts, Cody warned that he would end the conversation if she asked again. Bells also sent him a photo of the woman behind the fake profile, which he ignored. When she later called him cute, he thanked her but again mentioned his girlfriend.
By then, Bells wanted to know something else: Would Cody tell his girlfriend that another woman was flirting with him? It was the kind of elaborate relationship test that can keep escalating when someone believes there may be more to uncover.
Bells messaged him again while walking into the kitchen, hoping to catch him replying. Instead, Cody showed her the conversation himself and pointed out that the woman seemed to be flirting with him.
When Bells questioned why he was responding, Cody explained they were discussing Mustangs and offered to block the account. Even after Bells told him he could keep talking to the woman, he blocked her.
Her other fake accounts didn’t fare much better. Cody blocked one, while another message request apparently went unanswered. The bigger problem came later when Bells accidentally exposed the person behind the profiles.
While the couple were looking at TikTok, Bells began switching between her accounts. The fake blonde profile suddenly appeared on her screen, and Cody recognised it.
“You’re the girl that was texting me about the Mustang,” Bells recalled him saying. She initially denied it, but Cody quickly figured out the scheme and laughed. “You tried to trap me and you failed,” he told her.
The failed trap didn’t end their relationship. Bells revealed that she and Cody are now engaged, though he still reminds her about her unsuccessful scheme. Looking back at just how far she went, Bells admitted, “I can be a little crazy at times.”
Viewers, meanwhile, questioned why she kept testing him. “wait I’m confused do you want him to cheat or not??” one person wrote. Another asked, “girl why would you even keep going after finding out he was loyal.”
