Woman aboard American Airlines to New York is called to the front, then as the pilot makes announcements, flight attendant tells her something creepy

In the age of dating apps and the internet, meet-cutes are slowly gaining popularity, and honestly, why wouldn’t they? They’re unexpected, exciting, and you could even say they’re one of the most old-fashioned ways to meet the love of your life.
TikTok user @oliviakayhake experienced something similar when she was on an American Airlines flight to New York. She was randomly called to the front of the plane by a flight attendant, and then another flight attendant told her that the co-pilot of the plane thought she was hot. What happened next? Keep reading to find out.
TikTok user @oliviakayhake shares a story about meeting a “smokeshow” American Airlines co-pilot
Olivia has a cute “How I Met Your Father” story, but the ending might disappoint some. On November 12, 2025, she posted a video about an unusual experience she had while flying with American Airlines. She was flying from XNA to La Guardia when, a minute after boarding, a flight attendant in her “dad age range” asked her to come to the front of the plane. Confused, Olivia decided to record everything on her phone.
When she reached the front of the aircraft, between where the flight attendants sit before takeoff and the cockpit, another flight attendant around her age started talking to her, then told her that the “first officer” thought she was hot. Olivia felt flustered already, but hearing this made her even more giddy. She was talking with the pilot and says in the video she was “literally in the cockpit.” As she chatted with the pilot, the co-pilot, who thought Olivia was hot, walked out of the bathroom. Both of them were surprised to see each other there. Olivia described the moment and the co-pilot as, “When he walks out of the bathroom, I kid you not, 12 out of 10, like genuinely, smokeshow model. I’m like, you need to stop being a pilot and become a model.” She remembers feeling nervous and having small talk with him before sitting back in her seat. She also wanted to exchange phone numbers, but her attempt failed when she spilled water on the napkin she planned to get the co-pilot’s number on. She also wanted to talk to him before leaving, but the cockpit was shut, so she couldn’t. Olivia thinks not being able to get the co-pilot’s number was a huge bummer, as she might be missing her chance at love.

This is the greatest story ever.” @gloriaaa.lynnn added, “Love the concept of you being like “I’m scared of flying” and the flight attendant just waiting to tell you the co pilot thinks you’re hot.”
People can actually meet the love of their life on a plane
While recent studies on this are limited, a Business Insider article from August 30, 2018, highlights a survey by HSBC, which states that “four American passengers on the typical flight have met the love of their lives on a plane.”
According to the report, the chances of meeting someone on an airplane are “pretty high.” About 11.9 million people fly daily, and these numbers are comparable to a small country. Over a third of these travelers are flying alone and often inclined to talk to their co-passengers, increasing the chance of meeting someone. The survey found that over half of passengers have started a conversation with a stranger beside them, 14% have formed lasting friendships, and 16% have even made business connections.
