When Will ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Season 2 Release on Disney Plus?

The Clone Wars might have ended but our remaining clone troopers still have a major part to play in the ever-expanding Star Wars universe. As we saw at the end of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season one, the Empire has decimated the cloning facility where the troopers were created but it kept the Kaminoan Nala Se alive and escorted her off to another top-secret cloning project.

This has potentially big tie ins with the end of The Mandalorian season 2, in which we see a different cloning facility, and might also possibly connect to The Rise of Skywalker—does Nala Se become involved with the massive undertaking of building the Palpatine (and Snoke) clones?

Hopefully we get to see it all in action because it has been confirmed that Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be getting a second season! The second season will continue the adventures of our misfit clone boys in Clone Force 99, and their pal Omega. Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, and Omega (and maybe eventually even Crosshair if he rejoins the good guys) now have to find their place in a galaxy where the newly formed Empire is really starting to wreak havoc.

The Empire is also still after Omega because she is the rare clone that ages at a normal rate instead of an accelerated one, a trait that Nala Se’s new cloning project might need if they are in fact, trying to create viable backup bodies for the Emperor.

When will season 2 of The Bad Batch release on Disney+?

Rumors ran wild when a when a leaked page of Star Wars Insider was posted to Reddit had Season 2 listed as “coming soon” in “Spring 2022.” However, Disney never confirmed the rumors or the leak. And now we know why! Disney had announced that the official release day would be September 28, 2022. It was not the spring release many were hoping for because Disney decided to push it’s live action Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi into that slot instead. And unfortunately, fans of the show might have to wait even longer.

When Disney+ posted its September 2022 slate it included everything except for The Bad Batch. Fans were disheartened to hear that the Sophmore season of the show was experiencing yet another delay. But thanks to D23 fans can now breather a sigh of relief!

It was announced this morning (confirming new rumors that had begun to circulate online) that The Bad Batch season 2 will premiere on January 4 2023! This means that we will be going straight from The Bad Batch in the new season of The Mandalorian! We love an unending stream of new Star Wars stories in this house!
