Today is the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s death, a reminder that as much as conservatives talk about non-violence and love to compare the BLM movement to the Civil Rights movement that King was a part of, people hated and misused King’s message while he was alive.
While Dr. King was breathing, he was a problem that had to be followed by the FBI under JFK and then LBJ, two Democratic presidents, only to eventually be assassinated on April 4th, 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. was not a man without flaws or vices, and to present him as a deity does a disservice to the real man, who willingly put himself under the thumb of death every day of his adult life.
Back during MLK day, Clarkisha Kent, who has written for The Root, HuffPo, and other sites, created a thread of quotes that many pundits like to leave out of their yearly exaltation for their white-washed image of who Dr. King was.

- Steven Spielberg says that if he does return to the Indiana Jones property after the next planned film with Harrison Ford, the character would have to be in a different form. When asked in that form could be a woman, he replied “we’d have to change the name from Jones to Joan. And there would be nothing wrong with that.” Now, I’d say the last name Jones isn’t coded as female nor is “Indiana,” but we could def go from Henry to Helen very easily. - We finally have our first look at the upcoming Netflix Sabrina show, which will be based on the amazing comic book series that has been coming out from Archie Comics as part of their whole relaunched brand. I am definitely excited to see just how dark the series is willing to go. (via Screenrant)

- ‘Black-Ish’ Creator Kenya Barris may be leaving ABC. With him and Shonda exiting to joining ranks with Netflix, ABC is looking a little less brown behind the scenes. I wonder why? (via Pajiba)
