Trump’s Secretary claims $3 can buy a full meal — chicken, broccoli, a tortilla, plus ‘something else’

It appears the members of the Trump administration are playing Doofus Olympics amongst themselves because one week one of them is saying something completely obnoxious, and in the next someone else is saying something even more despicable. While I am sure no one can win over the leader of the doofus herd, Trump himself, this individual and her objectionable claims come very, very close.
Trump’s agricultural secretary, Brooke Rollins, is making some bold claims about affording a healthy meal. In a video that is currently circulating on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), where it has gained significant momentum, Rollins, in a conversation with News Nation, is seen claiming that based on 1,000 simulations run by her and her department, they had concluded that it takes about 3 dollars to be able to afford a meal of “a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing.” What other thing? And 3 dollars? Really? How out of touch does one have to be to come to that conclusion? And apparently, she is the Agriculture Security.
Rollins unintelligent response to the New Nation interviewer’s question of how Americans could afford to adjust their meals as per the dietary standards set by the current administration, which requires the consumption of natural produce over processed items, has not only drawn sharp criticism from the young netizens but also from people in positions of power. Democrats are specifically having a field day with Brooke Rollins’ claims and making fun of them at every opportunity they get. Commenting under a post featuring the infamous video, by a frequent Trump critic on X, the account of Ways and Means Democrats (run by Democrats) shared an edited picture of a tray divided into four compartments. Distributed evenly among these sections were a tiny piece of chicken, a single broccoli floret, a tortilla, and a “mystery item” wrapped in tinfoil.
Representative Ted Lieu, who has previously spoken against Trump and individuals within his administration, also took aim at Brooke Rollins and replied under the same post by sharing his own modified version of the meal Rollins expects Americans to consume. His picture featured a shabby-looking, almost uncooked piece of chicken, a slightly burned broccoli floret, a raw tortilla, and a peppermint candy. Lieu captioned the post:
“Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture says Americans can afford this delicious $3 meal. Prices are going up, and the Administration’s suggestion is for Americans to eat “a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing.” Yum!”
