While people already knew about the potential ceasefire deal between the US and Iran from Trump’s Truth Social post, what they didn’t know was that there was opposition to it within the Trump administration. During the press conference, Trump identified these individuals as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and General John Daniel “Raizin” Caine.

Donald Trump says his top officials didn’t want a settlement with Iran

Donald Trump’s press conference on Tuesday drew significant online attention, mainly due to what was said. While the main focus was on easing tensions between the US and Iran, with both nations moving toward a ceasefire, Trump also mentioned a few other points that have caught public interest.

For example, a video circulating on social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), shows Trump saying that Pete Hegseth and Raizin Caine were disappointed by the news that the US and Iran had reached a settlement because their goal was to “win.” Trump explained, “The only two people who were quite disappointed… I said, Pete and General Raizin Caine, ‘I think this thing’s gonna be settled very soon.’ Here they go: Oh! That’s too bad. Pete didn’t want it to be settled…They were not interested in settlement; they were interested in just winning this thing.”

Pete Hegseth claims the US negotiates with bombs

Pete Hegseth is once again showing why Colin Jost’s impersonation of him on SNL isn’t just a caricature. During the recent conference addressing US-Iran relations, Trump allowed Pete Hegseth to share some remarks.

Speaking in his usual classroom-first-bencher tone, the teacher’s (Trump) favorite, Pete Hegseth, spoke about the US and Israel’s joint attacks on Iran, praising the “air campaign” they conducted as “one for the history books.” At one point, he also pointed out that the US was negotiating with Iran with bombs. “You have a choice as we loiter over the top of Tyrron as the president talked about your future. President has made it clear that you will not have a nuclear weapon. The War Department agrees our job is to ensure that. And so we’re keeping our our hand on that throttle uh as long as as hard as is necessary to ensure the interests of the United States of America are achieved on that battlefield,” Hegseth said.
