Trump believes he’s Europe’s dream leader, but British tabloids literally called him ‘Deranged’ and ‘Man Baby’ on front page

Donald Trump’s new delusion is thinking Europeans want him as their leader. Actual Europe, meanwhile, is calling him “DERANGED” in all caps. The gap between Trump’s fantasy and reality continues to widen. But this time, the proof is printed on the front page of British tabloids.
During the annual congressional ball at the White House on December 12, Trump decided to update his global standing. Between seasonal pleasantries and self-congratulation, he claimed that European nations don’t just respect him, they apparently want him in charge. According to Trump, this wasn’t his opinion. This was the “European nations reporting.”
“The European nations are reporting that your president might as well be the leader of the European nations also,” Trump said. “They listen to us, and they respect us like they’ve never respected us before.”
But what are European nations actually reporting? His derangement. After Trump delivered another such delusional and cringeworthy speech to the UN on Sept. 22, Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper plastered his face with the word “DERANGED” in all caps. They ridiculed his speech, alongside the description “the world’s most powerful man-baby.” Not in an op-ed. Not in a column. On the front page. (via Left Foot Forward)
That wasn’t a one-off insult. It was a summary judgment. And it fits far better with how Europe actually perceives Trump. He is a destabilizing figure, a punchline, or, at best, a political liability. European leaders have consistently treated him with caution, skepticism, or thinly veiled discomfort. Meanwhile, the European media has treated him with outright mockery.
But on the podium, Trump insisted that Europe has never shown the United States this level of admiration. And he brought his weird, “America is the hottest country anywhere in the world,” rant back. It was a familiar performance. We had Trump as narrator, Trump as hero, and Trump as global emperor.
But just days earlier, Trump had publicly trashed European leadership. He called it weak and ineffective while attacking Europe’s handling of immigration and Ukraine (via BBC). In recent interviews, he’s repeatedly framed European allies as freeloaders who exploit American generosity. Yet now, standing at a ballroom podium, those same leaders were apparently begging him to run the continent.
And the president continued stacking imaginary achievements on top of his European fantasy. He claimed tariffs had reduced the U.S. deficit by 64%. Then bragged about having “solved eight wars,” before immediately admitting one of them might need “a couple of phone calls.” He also declared that 100% of new jobs were created by the private sector, and so on.
One user on X summarized it, saying, “Donald Trump needs to be checked for derangement. Trump’s delusions, whether it is that Europeans want him to be their leader or that he has ‘solved’ 9 wars, are extremely concerning except to the most moronic of his MAGA morons.” While several Europeans entered the comment section to shatter his ruling dreams. One wrote,
“It’s the same magical thinking you get from the Kremlin. Neither realizes just how unpopular they are in Europe.”
And that’s the real story. Trump is simply selling a fantasy, while the truth is sitting on newsstands in London. Europeans don’t want Trump as their leader. In all probability, the European nations barely tolerate him as America’s.
