True crime YouTuber reveals the one thing she says people should stay away from when dating

She might have a point

A woman claims she’s cracked the code on identifying people you need to stay away from. In a TikTok video, Sid (@sidandlisten) explained that her extensive experience watching true crime documentaries, along with her background in managing a YouTube channel that focused on true crime at one point, has given her insights into the types of people to be cautious of when dating.

“If you are dating someone and they have dead eyes, like, they. They. It doesn’t express anything, and they just kind of look at you like this without moving their eyes or anything like that, and, like, there’s just, like, no movement. There’s no movement at all,” Sid said. As she mentioned this, she stared blankly into the camera in an effort to show what the expression would look like in person.

Sid then highlighted another thing people should look out for when dating: pursed lips. “And they purse their lips like this when they’re talking, and their eyes are really dead. Run!,” Sid said in her video’s conclusion.

“This is 100% True”

Sid’s video has gained more than 2 million views, with thousands of people liking, commenting, sharing, and saving it. Speaking of the comments, some people appear to agree with Sid, primarily because of their personal experience.

@sidandlisten

Like when they look at you with contempt or disrespect and make you feel bad or small. Not just random moments you have those eyes or bc you’re going through it yk what I mean?

One person wrote, “this is 100% True. my grandma used to always tell my mum “you can tell a person by their eyes”, needless to say I didn’t heed this information and ended up in a relationship where I was almost part of the next true crime series…(run before they start planning to skin you alive folks LOL…)” Another person said, “girl I can see it. I used to avoid people I would meet and had an empty look in their eyes 20 even 30 years ago… you can just tell when someone is basically possessed…”

A few people began suggesting names of public figures who matched Sid’s description of individuals to keep at a distance. Some mentioned Mr. Beast, while others cited Patrick Clancy. One person said, “So, like Mr.beast?” Another wrote, “This is Patrick clancy’s face always. and I don’t think slot of people on here know dead eyes. all saying they have them. I guarantee they don’t.

Commenters also floated around the names of others, including Benjamin Netanyahu, Karoline Leavitt, Lilly Rose Depp, Donald Trump, and Elon Musk. Some even shared pictures of the people they were dating and of themselves asking Sid and those in her comments if they had dead eyes.

As with any post where people express their opinions, Sid also received criticism. Some people complained about the issue Sid raised, noting that it was wrong of her to make blanket statements about people with dead eyes.

One person noted, “This feels incredibly out of touch with reality. True crime rots peoples brain too much. Dead eyes can be due to trauma- which is why some people who have been through horrible things like war have dead eyes, or even childhood trauma.” Another highlighted, “I think better advice would be if you feel that something isn’t right with the person you’re dating then you should run because I know many people myself included who have “dead eyes” but none of these ppl (myself included) are bad people.”

Whether Sid’s claims are taken seriously or not depends on individual judgment. The comments suggest that some people already accepted this theory before Sid brought it up, while others aren’t very excited about it. What would you do if you went out with someone who had dead eyes and pursed their lips?
