Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief in the Loki TV show

Is Tom Hiddleston Engaged? Answered!

They are so cute together I'm crying!

We’ve got bad news for anyone with a crush on Tom Hiddleston, and good news for anyone who loves good things happening to good people. And those of us who are both? Our brains are exploding right now. Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton are engaged!

The two reportedly started dating in 2019, around the time when they co-starred in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal in London and on Broadway, but after Tom’s relationship with Taylor Swift, which was relentlessly nitpicked and criticized by tabloids, he and Zawe went to great lengths to keep their relationship private. They went public at the 2021 Tony Awards, though, when they posed together on the red carpet.

At the 2022 BAFTAs on March 13, Tom and Zawe posed on the red carpet again, this time holding hands. The real reveal came during the afterparty, though, when Zawe posed for an Instagram picture and displayed a diamond the size of an infinity stone on her left hand. Later, playwright Bonnie Greer confirmed the engagement on Twitter.

Tom, of course, is best known for his portrayal of Loki in The Avengers, Thor: Ragnarok, Loki, and other MCU films. He’s also beloved for his work in Crimson Peak, Only Lovers Left Alive, High Rise, and other movies. Fans are champing at the bit to see him as Reverend Will Ransome in the upcoming Essex Serpent on Apple TV Plus, and Loki Season 2, which will reportedly stream sometime in 2023.

Zawe will join Tom in the Marvel villains club when she plays an as-yet-unknown antagonist in The Marvels, coming out in February 2023 and starring Brie Larson, Tayonah Parris, and Iman Vellani. Previously she’s played Oona in The Handmaid’s Tale, Josephina in Velvet Buzzsaw, and other roles. Zawe is also an accomplished writer, having written several plays including For All the Women who Thought They Were Mad, and a fictionalized memoir of her life as an actress called Character Breakdown.

One of the reasons this news feels so wholesome and good is because, in addition to being talented artists, Tom and Zawe both have reputations for being kind, decent people. Both of them have done humanitarian and social justice work, with Tom having traveled to South Sudan as a UNICEF UK ambassador, and Zawe doing extensive work on social media and podcasts to highlight issues related to Black Lives Matter and feminism.

Plus, with everything in the world so sucky right now, it’s always nice to hear about an upcoming wedding. Congratulations, Tom and Zawe!
