In the same vein as our recent post covering our favorite women comics artists of 2016 and beyond, we thought we should also pay homage to the wordsmiths and spellbinders who give our most favorite characters voice and action. So, your fearless comics editors Maddy, Teresa, and Jessica all got together and compiled a list of some of our most favorite women comics writers we saw this year.

This isn’t by any means a fully comprehensive list of all the women comics writers whose work we had the chance to enjoy this year, but each and every one of these names were responsible for a real highlight in our own personal comic history. If we missed your favorite author, then please, let us know in the comments who you think needs to be here!

Without further ado, may we present: TMS’ Favorite Women Comics Writers of 2016!

Jessica Lachenal
Jessica Lachenal is a writer who doesn’t talk about herself a lot, so she isn’t quite sure how biographical info panels should work. But here we go anyway. She's the Weekend Editor for The Mary Sue, a Contributing Writer for The Bold Italic (thebolditalic.com), and a Staff Writer for Spinning Platters (spinningplatters.com). She's also been featured in Model View Culture and Frontiers LA magazine, and on Autostraddle. She hopes this has been as awkward for you as it has been for her.
