They Applied for a Job at Olive Garden. A Rejection Isn't Enough to Make Them Give Up 'I'm Literally Going to Show Up in a Different Wig'

The job market around the world has been extremely competitive. With the boom of AI and the current economic conditions, those who simply have a job to hold on to are lucky. Phish (@ph1sh._.b0nez) applied for a job at Olive Garden, and they were not willing to give up after one rejection.

“So, I applied to Olive Garden, and they didn’t give me an interview, so I went in anyways and acted like I had one,” Phish told TikTok. Closed mouths don’t get fed, and confidence can get people into rooms they could only ever dream of being in. Take it from this high schooler, who faked his credentials to meet Lana Del Rey. Having the confidence worked in his favor and changed the course of his career.

“They gave me an interview,” Phish continued. But then, the person interviewing Phish realized that they didn’t really have an interview scheduled on that date. Phish needs the job, so they just pretended that there must have been a mistake.

“That’s so weird. Do you want to continue, or what?” Phish asked, and the interviewer seemingly agreed. He was determined to land a role at Olive Garden. But the next day came, and while he was at the beach, he received an email.

They revealed that Olive Garden denied their job application. This would have been the end of the road for Phish. Surely, there are other fast food joints to work for anyway. Perhaps they could even take over a rude Chili’s server’s job after they’d supposedly attacked a customer over a chicken sandwich, unprovoked.

But Phish’s grit is unmatched. They were as determined as a climber commissioned to retrieve a passport from an apartment without stairs. So, Phish tried reapplying to Olive Garden in the most unconventional way possible.

Going all or nothing on Olive Garden

“I made a new email and I literally applied again,” Phish revealed. But it seems that good things come to those who are able to tough it out.

“And I actually got scheduled for an in-person interview tomorrow. So, I’m literally going to show up in a different wig and act like a completely different person.” It may appear excessive—they’d technically already been denied twice. They were not considered for an interview, and when they forced one to happen, they still didn’t get in. But maybe third time’s a charm, or the HR of that Olive Garden branch finally noticed Phish’s persistence to get in.

“Girl, I’m hungry. I want a job and I want to work. Why are y’all not hiring the people who want the job?” Phish’s TikTok clip went viral, and it’s currently sitting at over six million views. It would make a rather awkward moment if the hiring manager of that Olive Garden found out about Phish’s scheme.

Did they get the job?

Many social media users sent messages of support their way.

One commenter wrote, “I love this messy professionalism!” Another joked, saying that Phish and their alter-ego might get hired by Olive Garden.

Someone else said, “They should hire you just for the determination and creativity.”

A TikTok user commented, “You’re going to make it big in life with this mentality… I kinda love this?”

Others who were also struggling to find a job shared their experiences below Phish’s post. One person said that they’d been denied a job at Shipt even with their clean criminal record and their history as a professional driver.

Another commented, “I’ve had 2 in person interviews at Lowe’s. They haven’t seen the last of me.” When words can’t convince a company, perhaps actions can. It’s unclear if Phish landed the role, but their dedication to showing up clearly stands out.
