‘The stadium was empty’: Senator Jon Ossoff goes off on JD Vance, pokes fun at the no-show at Georgia sighting

Senator Jon Ossoff from Georgia is no stranger to making pointed remarks about people within the Trump administration, with a special focus on the dictator-in-chief himself. Over the last couple of months, he has taken several digs at Donald Trump, who seems to be providing enough material for him to nitpick, dissect, and critique.

Jon Ossoff is once again doing what he does best: calling out people in the Trump administration for their shenanigans. While his main focus within this broader group will always be President Trump, he is now making a slight shift by highlighting an individual who repeatedly enables him. The person is none other than United States Vice President JD Vance. During a recent appearance, Ossoff pointed out that Vance recently appeared at the University of Georgia, but no one showed up, and the stadium was empty. Ossoff’s comments drew applause and cheers from the crowd.

Jon Ossoff highlights JD Vance’s unpopularity in Georgia

Senator Jon Ossoff has built a reputation as one of the best speakers in the Democratic Party, and, as might be expected given his affiliation, most of his criticism is directed at members of the Trump administration. This time, his person of interest is JD Vance, who, after an extended break, has been making frequent public appearances, carrying on Donald Trump’s words and legacy.

On April 14, 2026, JD Vance appeared at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia. However, it failed miserably. Watching videos of the event on the official White House YouTube page might give the impression that many people were present, with loud cheers and applause being heard whenever Vance said something mildly “profound,” but a closer look would reveal that not many people were there. The camera focuses only on the front of the audience, where people were likely told to gather. A closer inspection also reveals that the cheers and applause could have been added later to make it seem like a large crowd was present. These theories aren’t baseless or just personal opinions; people who were at the event and posted on the internet have confirmed the same. Ossoff, during his recent public appearance, highlighted this low turnout at Vance’s University of Georgia TPUSA event and made fun of him. “I don’t know if you saw, but JD Vance was in Georgia this week. Don’t worry, no one showed up. The stadium was empty,” Ossoff said as the crowd erupted in loud cheers.

Jon Ossoff says JD Vance came to Georgia to attack the Pope

If you search the internet for JD Vance’s comments from his April 14, 2026, appearance at the TPUSA event, you’ll find several short videos of him expressing dissatisfaction with the Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV’s remarks about the United States’ war in Iran and war in general. In these videos, he essentially states that he disagrees with the Pope when he says that God does not support people who wage wars, and provides examples of historical events where war has been used as a means of freeing groups of people, justifying the USA’s actions.

Senator Jon Ossoff, during his recent appearance, brought this topic up and said, “JD came to UGA to attack the Pope, two days after Donald Trump depicted himself as Jesus Christ. The faithless president depicts himself as Christ as he plunges the nation into wars of choice while he and his family rake in billions from foreign prices, while he plunders our healthcare to cut taxes for the rich.”
