Earlier this month, the Small Press Expo held a panel discussion on women in the comics industry that featured Jessica Abel, Robyn Chapman, Alexa Dickman, and Diane Noomin and was moderated by The Beat’s Heidi MacDonald. Among the topics they discussed: the struggles of women throughout the history of the comics industry, including how female cartoonists are somehow still “female cartoonists” and not simply “cartoonists,” and how much they wished we wouldn’t have to have panels like this in the first place.

After the jump, a comic-style rendering of some of the panel highlights (the whole thing runs for about 53 minutes) by Maggie Siegel-Berele.
