We used to have a lot of movies all about a bunch of people trying to achieve one common goal. Think of movies like Fargo or even No Country For Old Men from the Coen brothers and how there are so many moving parts in their films but it still manages to work. That’s how the new trailer for Americana feels. I miss when he had movies like this constantly coming out! So this trailer feels like a nice return to the genre.

Directed by Poker Face showrunner, Tony Tost, the trailer details the quest for a rare Lakota Ghost shirt that a rich man had on display in his home. The white people of a small South Dakota town are all trying to steal it for their own benefit while an indigenous group, led by Zahn McClarnon, is trying to get back what was rightfully theirs.

The film is described as follows: “A gallery of dynamic characters clash over the possession of a rare Native American artifact in this wildly entertaining modern-day western. After the artifact falls onto the black market, a shy waitress with big dreams (Sydney Sweeney) teams up with a lovelorn military veteran (Paul Walter Hauser) to gain possession of it, putting them in the crosshairs of a ruthless criminal (Eric Dane) working on behalf of a Western antiquities dealer (Simon Rex). Bloodshed ensues when others join the battle, including the leader of an indigenous group (Zahn McClarnon) and a desperate woman fleeing her mysterious past (Halsey).”

So get your bell-bottoms, put on your cowboy boots, and get ready to see Americana in theaters this summer!
