Suspected serial killer captured while disguised as a woman and carrying a random toddler
Fashion crimes are far from the worst crime this man allegedly committed.
A joint operation between the Civil Police of Paraíba in Brazil and the region’s military police resulted in the arrest of 33-year-old Jorlan Lopes da Silva on September 13, 2026. Believed to be responsible for the deaths of 16 people since he was released from prison in May, the successful capture of da Silva followed a failed attempt from weeks earlier.
At the time of his arrest, da Silva was disguised as a woman and carrying a random toddler. However, when trying to evade police, his dress slipped down, revealing a tattoo that identified him as their suspect.
It’s entirely unclear where he got the child from
According to reports, d Silva went all out on his feminine costume. Not only was he allegedly wearing a dress, but he also had on a wig. Additionally, he wore sunglasses and sandals and even had his nails polished in his effort to slip by police.
More importantly, he had a child around 2 years old with him, and it’s unclear how he came to have them. Police reportedly said the toddler is not related to da Silva, and they’re still investigating where the child came from. However, the kid did receive medical attention and was completely unharmed.
Footage of the purported serial killer’s capture was released by an account on X, which showed da Silva smiling while he slipped his wig off after being handcuffed. The clip also showed him in full disguise, with the wig still on and his dress off his shoulder, showing off his identifiable tattoo.
Jorlan Lopes da Silva may be responsible for many more murders than originally thought
The 48-hour effort that led to the alleged serial killer’s arrest came from an investigation into 16 deaths in the past several months. According to Ultimo Segundo, police stated that they already had technical evidence and confessions related to those, with strong evidence linking da Silva to the homicides. However, they also alleged that he had been difficult to arrest because he was living in the woods. Authorities are reportedly investigating potential links between the suspect and a criminal faction, too, as two other men have also been arrested in the course of the investigation.
In a statement, authorities purportedly said, “With the arrest of the suspects, the Civil Police hope to expedite the progress of the police investigations, gathering evidence to hold those involved accountable for the crimes attributed to them.”
However, the police may need to delve into more deaths, as da Silva allegedly confessed to having killed at least 80 people over the past 20 years. LadBible reported that authorities explained in a statement, “During his interrogation, with great composure, Jorlan confessed to several homicide crimes, even revealing that he committed his first crime when he was 13 years old.” As for who he allegedly killed at 13 years old, he claimed it was his father.
Thus far, authorities have already found a body due to the information da Silva gave them. Now, they’re reportedly following a number of leads to verify his other claims. Da Silva remains in custody while they do so.
