Stephen Miller is vocalising the Trump administration’s imperialist dreams about Venezuela, and they sound scary

For quite some time, Donald Trump has wished to rule over nations and people. While he may not want to admit it, he often gives hints of his imperialistic ideas during public appearances. However, he gets quite upset whenever someone calls him a dictator or something similar. I mean, why wouldn’t he? Deep down, he knows he wants to be a King, but he also understands that most people will not react positively to that ambition.
One notable thing about Trump’s supporters is their tendency to echo their leader’s words. Given the struggles some of Trump’s dedicated followers face when it comes to critical thinking, it’s impressive how they manage to articulate their thoughts just as expected. They may falter occasionally, but that’s a minor detail compared to the countless times they have blatantly lied and misled people on the President’s behalf. So, I must acknowledge that: credit where credit is due.
In a recent segment on CNN, published on January 6, 2026, Stephen Miller was asked by host Jake Tapper to comment on the future of Venezuela, now that its president, Nicolás Maduro, had been abducted and removed from his position. Tapper specifically asked Miller to share his thoughts on Donald Trump’s comments about María Corina Machado, the leader of the opposition to the administrations of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, who is currently one of the frontrunners to become the president of Venezuela, about whom Trump stated that she does not have the “support” of the Venezuelan people. While Miller largely agreed with Trump’s statements and emphasised that appointing Machado as president would be a significant challenge, he also did not respond positively to the idea of elections being held in Venezuela to appoint their new president after being prompted by Tapper. Instead, Miller outlined a plan for what the United States intended to do in Venezuela that sounded alarmingly similar to annexing a country in a true imperialist fashion and exploiting it for its resources. He stated:
“The United States is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We’re a superpower, and under President Trump, we are going to conduct ourselves as a superpower. It is absurd that we would allow a nation in our own backyard to become the supplier of resources to our adversaries, but not to us. to hoard weapons from our adversaries to be able to be positioned as an asset against the United States rather than on behalf of the United States.”
Miller’s aspirations regarding Venezuela were shared on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), where the reactions were largely negative. Most users were not pleased with it, although MAGA supporters were understandably happy with it.
