Daisy Ridley is on board with the fans: “I like when people join forces”

Rey and Kylo Ren in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Daisy Ridley is taking the side of the fans when it comes to The Hunt for Ben Solo. The Star Wars actress chatted with IGN about the much-ballyhooed project. She’s rocking with all those Sequel Trilogy fans who want to see Adam Driver back for more adventures in a galaxy far, far away.  Upon hearing news of this proposed Star Wars sequel, fans started making their desire known on social media.

Lucasfilm is no stranger to Strange fan movements trying to influence content decisions. But, this is one of the rare times that one of these fan led movements seems to be rooted in genuine love for the franchise. Driver truly opened up Pandora’s Box by even mentioning The Hunt for Ben Solo in the first place. And once that kind of information is out on the Internet,, it’s hard to put it back into the box it came from.

What did Daisy Ridley say about The Hunt for Ben Solo?

Ridley had to address one of her co-stars managing to unite the Star Wars fandom in one common goal. “I do love when there is a collective of positivity,” The Hunt for Ben Solo fan said. “The way the internet seems to have rallied to try and get it to happen. I think one), it’s fantastic for us all. It’s good for us to all be united about something in a really positive way.”

“Obviously, everyone knows he was a very popular character, but it was also lovely to think, ‘Wow, people really, really care and want this.’ I just… I like it,” she added. “And, I like when people join forces — excuse the pun — from all around the world, all different sorts of people.”

“I just love that the Star Wars fandom is such a huge and gorgeous array of different points of view and different people, and the fact that everyone is really behind this thing, I think, is just sort of lovely, in a time that is so f***ing nuts for probably every single person on this Earth,” Ridley mused. “I think it’s wonderful. So I was surprised, and honestly, I felt joyful about how it went down.”

Driver’s idea for a Kylo Ren/Ben Solo follow-up movie. Probably, the most wild bit of news from the AP’s interview with the Star Wars actor was Steven Soderbergh’s involvement in this movie? Basically, the film would have told the story of Ben Solo after The Rise of Skywalker. However, the idea got to the Disney higher ups and that was where things went left.

“We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it,” Driver told the AP. “We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that. It was called ‘The Hunt for Ben Solo’ and it was really cool,” adds Driver. “But it is no more, so I can finally talk about it.”

As of now, there are no plans to pursue The Hunt for Ben Solo. That fact has not deterred tons of Star Wars fans from taking to social media and pushing for the project to become a reality again. Nothing is ever really over on the Internet, so hope springs eternal.
