She was heavily intoxicated at a house party at 16. A certain ‘John’ refused to leave her alone: ‘I think about him and that night all the time’
Aspire to be a John.

Haylee (@in_nowhere_land) was sixteen when she went to her first house party somewhere in the Midwest. But after feeling socially pressured to take a variety of substances, she was approached by a man who wouldn’t leave her alone.
“This house was notorious for throwing parties when I was in high school. It was my very first time ever going to one,” Haylee told TikTok. She believed she was invited because she had a car. Haylee recalled that the party hosts were popular, so she was eager to go.
“They were serving what we call here in the Midwest jungle juice,” she claimed. It was essentially a mix of alcohol and a variety of fruit juices. It was a house party with plenty of liquor. For Haylee, who saw herself as the “weird kid,” being invited to the house party made her feel included. Admittedly, Haylee said she “kind of went off the rails” and drank more alcohol than she could handle.
“I don’t even remember how many drinks that I had in total that night. But after I was already heavily intoxicated, I found out that one of my friends at the time had stolen one of her dad’s Vicodin pills,” Haylee claimed. She said that the other upper-class girls circled them once they found out about the pills and suggested cutting them up and snorting them.
Something could have gone wrong at a house party
Haylee said the other girls started snorting a line of Vicodin, including her friend. When it was her turn, Haylee started saying no to their request. However, she noted that the other girls started giving her “weird” looks. Because she wanted to fit in, Haylee acquiesced.
“And I snorted a line of Vicodin while I was already heavily intoxicated on multiple, different types of liquor,” Haylee alleged. Since then, her memory has become patchy.
“I remember bits and pieces, and I will tell you the bits and pieces that I do remember,” Haylee narrated. She said she saw a man, whom she believes couldn’t have been a high school student. She remembers being pulled by the arm and brought onto the dance floor by the man. Haylee said the man tried to grind with her, and she didn’t know him.
“I remember being so out of it that I couldn’t even move,” Haylee said. Amid the event, a man whom Haylee nicknamed ‘John’ intervened. She continued, “He kept approaching me while I was on this dance floor with this older man and trying to see if I was okay.” The older man was allegedly upset with John and told him to back off.
But Haylee said she started feeling overwhelmed. She moved past the men and went back into the bedroom. Haylee went to the couch, where her friend was. The moment she sat down, Haylee said her head started spinning. She eventually threw up before blacking out again.
Someone chose to be her guard
“The next time I open my eyes, I don’t see my friend anywhere,” Haylee alleged. She was on the bed, and at its foot was John, just sitting there. Haylee was spooked and tried to get out of the room, but just as she was about to, the older man walked in. He allegedly wanted to take her back onto the dance floor, but Haylee said John intervened and told the man she needed to rest. She was in and out of consciousness, but every time she woke up, Haylee said she saw John by the foot of the bed.
They stayed the night, and when she woke up in the morning, John was gone. Her friend was asleep beside her, and they left the house together. Although John was no longer in the house, her cousin, who was at the party, told Haylee that he sat on the end of the bed for the rest of the night to keep her safe.
“Because John knew that if he left me alone, something bad could have happened,” Haylee said. Eventually, she said that John grew up to be a cop whom people adore. She continued, “And I think about him and that night all the time, and how thankful I am that his mama raised him right. But had I not had a John there, I don’t know what would have happened.”
At a cliquish party, having good people and friends who care becomes all the more important. Another woman who attended a Cornell University frat party said she lost her friend during one night, but refused to leave her fate to a random frat house. Staying for her friend drastically changed the night’s outcome.
