Sharp has developed a 33-megapixel Super Hi-Vision camera, to accompany their 85-inch, 33,177,600 pixel Super Hi-Vision television. Though still a trial device, the camera is the first to capture 33 megapixels with a single sensor. The current incarnation of the camera uses four chips, each capable of capturing eight million pixels, and the 2.5 inch sensor is compatible with SLR camera lenses. Sharp is looking for a manufacturer to develop the camera for public use.
