Released by the online video crew Machinima, the above video showcases the lost tapes for character auditions for Mortal Kombat, featuring venerable game characters, such as Link, Mario, what appears to be James Worthy from NBA Jam, and even Arthur from Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, among others. Machinima explains:
Even before Kratos, several characters have auditioned for roles in previous Mortal Kombat games. Most never made the cut, and those audition tapes were previously thought to be lost…Until now.
The chest opening tune playing while Link rips out a heart isn’t anything less than awesome. Now, if only this weren’t a hilarious parody.
