Marvel Fans Push Back on Sadie Sink’s Rumored Spider-Man: Brand New Day Role: ‘Nobody Thinks That’

Marvel fans are pushing back after a viral social media post claimed many believe Sadie Sink will play a version of Wanda Maximoff, better known as the Scarlet Witch, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The speculation resurfaced after Metro Entertainment shared a video discussing Sink’s reportedly secretive casting process. According to the post, Marvel skipped a traditional audition process for Sink and allegedly kept the script from her until filming began to protect the project’s secrets. The caption also claimed fans believe she’ll portray a version of Scarlet Witch.
That last claim, however, quickly became the real story. Rather than embracing the Wanda theory, hundreds of commenters argued that almost no one has been speculating Sink will play the Scarlet Witch.
“The fans are not convinced she’ll be playing Scarlet Witch,” one of the top comments read. Another user wrote, “Literally nobody thinks this.” “This is the first time I’ve heard anyone mention her playing Wanda,” another commenter added. Many questioned where the theory even originated, with users asking, “Who’s ‘the fans’?” and joking that the caption felt like clickbait.
Jean Grey Remains The Internet’s Favorite Theory

Instead of Scarlet Witch, the overwhelming majority of commenters pointed to one X-Men character: Jean Grey. “So clear it’s Jean Grey,” one fan wrote. “Everyone has been guessing Jean Grey,” another commented.
Others claimed longtime Marvel insiders have fueled that theory for months, while several users argued introducing Jean Grey would make sense if Marvel Studios is preparing to bring the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Not everyone agreed with that prediction, however. Some questioned why Marvel would introduce such a major mutant character in a Spider-Man film rather than in a dedicated X-Men project. While Jean Grey dominated the discussion, commenters floated several other possibilities.
Some predicted Sink could play Rachel Summers, Jean Grey’s daughter from an alternate timeline, while others suggested Spider-Gwen, Cindy Moon (Silk), Mary Jane Watson, Typhoid Mary, or even Madame Web. The variety of theories is a direct example of just how tightly Marvel has kept Sink’s role under wraps.
Fans Also Don’t Want Elizabeth Olsen Replaced

Some Marvel fans also voiced concern over the Scarlet Witch speculation, arguing that Elizabeth Olsen remains the definitive face of the character. “If she replaces Elizabeth Olsen I will be so mad,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “There’s no replacing an Olsen.” Others pointed out that Wanda Maximoff already exists within the MCU, making the theory feel unlikely in their eyes.
Marvel Studios has not confirmed which character Sink will portray in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the actress has remained equally tight-lipped. That secrecy has only fueled months of online speculation, with fans continuing to dissect every rumor leading up to the film’s release.
For now, though, one thing appears clear from Metro Entertainment’s comment section – while plenty of fans have theories about Sink’s mysterious role, most don’t believe Scarlet Witch is the answer. For now, fans continue to champion Jean Grey as the most likely character, leaving Marvel to reveal whether they’re right.
