Rep. Moulton expresses uncertainty over Trump’s Iran plans, says he’s ‘not a child psychologist’ capable of reading his mind

While the voices of ordinary people around the world continue to grow daily, those in positions of power who have opposed Trump and his war efforts in Iran since the start of the attacks keep speaking out, raising awareness among the public. One prominent figure among them is Representative Seth Wilbur Moulton, whose video is currently going viral on social media, including X (formerly Twitter).
Representative Seth Moulton has nothing good to say about Donald Trump
Recently, after Donald Trump completely changed his stance on Iran, threatening to bomb its infrastructure and weighing in on the possibility of having boots on the ground, Representative Seth Moulton appeared on MSNBC to criticize his decisions.
When specifically asked to comment on the possibility of Trump having forces on the ground in Iran despite his initial signals otherwise, and whether he could make sense of Trump’s recent changed comments, Representative Moulton said he was unable to decipher Trump’s comments because he was not a child psychologist. His exact words in the context were, “I am not a child psychologist, so I can’t understand the mind of Trump.”
Trump does not want to have boots on the ground in Iran, yet
Since the United States began its conflict with Iran this February, Donald Trump has made several conflicting statements about his expectations for the entire operation. While one of his consistent goals has been to achieve peace (which is quite ironic given that he was the one to start the war), his other objectives have largely remained unclear. Another of these has been whether he wants to have boots on the ground in Iran. When the war against Iran first started, Trump repeatedly said he was not planning to deploy ground troops in Iran to control the situation. However, he also emphasized that he did not rule out the possibility.
His rhetoric on the topic has remained largely unchanged in recent days despite several developments. According to an article published by The Hill on April 5, 2026, in a brief phone interview with the outlet on Sunday, Trump mentioned that he was not ruling out deploying ground troops in Iran if they decide not to make a deal with the United States. He also stated, “Normal people would make a deal. Smart people would make a deal. If they were smart, they would make a deal.”
