Pregnant Maryland Woman Gets Removed From Her Frontier Flight. Says They Sold Her Seat — to Someone Who Paid More

Airlines overbooking their flights is an unfortunate reality that happens from time to time. While it’s unlikely to happen to you, there is always a chance that your seat could be forfeit due to more tickets being sold than there are on the plane. In this case, a pregnant Frontier Airlines passenger found herself being kicked off of her flight because someone else paid more for her seat.
The woman, who goes by “fulviavocalcoach,” on TikTok explained that the seat on a Frontier Airlines flight which she had purchased was given to somebody else thanks to the flight being overbooked. “The fare I paid for my ticket was too low to be respected if an overbooked flight situation occurred,” she explained.
Fulvia then revealed that she was six months pregnant, but despite this she was asked to get off of the plane after everyone had boarded. She says the only explanation she was given was that she had paid too little for her ticket, “I paid the price that they asked, I didn’t come up with the price myself.” The airline prioritized the passenger that paid more but it came at the cost of Fulvia’s seat.
While she tried to argue with the member of staff, stating that she was pregnant, in pain, and just needed to be home, the staff refused to relent, leading to Fulvia and her husband getting rightfully upset.
The aftermath and Frontier Airlines response
Fulvia claims that staff outside the plane weren’t of much use either. In the end Fulvia and her husband were able to get to Baltimore around 1 a.m., they arrived at the airport to depart around 4 p.m. the day prior. She claims that the Airline didn’t offer an apology, nor has it given them the refund they were promised or anything in the way of compensation.
Airlines often overbook flights to maximise profits, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating, especially when it happens to someone who is six months pregnant like Fulvia was. Viewers weren’t impressed by the airline’s greed with some recommending Fulvia and her husband sue, “Pregnancy discrimination act. You need to file a complaint and sue them.”
Others took the side of the airline stating, “If you buy the lower priced ticket you are subject to be the first one to loose [sic] your seat on an over booked flight.” Some irate viewers also sought out the TikTok page for Frontier Airlines to give them a piece of their mind.
While overbooking flights is still normalized across all airlines it seems people are getting sick and tired of the corporate greed. Situations like this perfectly encapsulate what is wrong with the current system and yet it seems little is being done about it.
