Texas woman goes to famous Austin restaurant and loses her Prada shades. Then she asks the manager for the security footage–and he starts acting shady

Sunglasses are one of those things people accidentally leave behind all the time. Having said that, you don’t expect them to vanish seconds after you set them down at a restaurant.
That’s what one woman claims happened at The Oasis on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.
In a video that got over 36,400 views, TikTok creator Mariana (@mariana_yvette) implies that the restaurant’s staff might have had something to do with the disappearance.
What Happened At The Oasis?
“Chat, you will not just believe what happened to me,” Mariana starts. “We just went to The Oasis in Austin, Texas.”
Mariana says she and her friend went there for dinner and pictures. After taking photos, they sat down in the bar area because they wanted to watch the game.
But according to Mariana, service was slow.
“They took too long to wait on us,” she says. “We were there for probably, I don’t know, 20 minutes, just sitting there, waiting to even get a drink order in.”
At some point, Mariana says she put her white Prada sunglasses down.
Then they decided to leave and get dinner somewhere else.
By the time they were walking out, Mariana says she realized her sunglasses were gone.
“Within seconds,” she says. “I mean, literally, they’re gone.”
Mariana says she asked for a manager and wanted to know whether there was a camera that could be checked.
“Can you pull up?” she recalls asking.
According to Mariana, the response immediately felt off.
“He’s like, ‘Oh, um, yeah, yeah, yeah. The manager will have to come tomorrow,’” she says. “Or, like, the operations manager, something like, he’ll have to come tomorrow.”
Then, as the conversation continued, Mariana says the story changed.
“He’s like, ‘Oh, well, he doesn’t even come in tomorrow, but maybe he’ll come in tomorrow for this,’” she says.
At the end of the video, she directly calls on the manager to check the camera footage.
“Tom, please review the camera footage and find my glasses or find who stole my sunglasses,” she says.
She Says A Manager Called Her Back
In an update, Mariana says she did get a call back the next day. However, she says she is not sure who called her because he did not disclose his name.
“He said he was one of the managers and that he reviewed the camera footage and that he did not find anything on the camera footage regarding my glasses,” Mariana says.
She says the glasses also were not turned into lost and found.
“They’re nowhere to be found,” she says.
According to Mariana, the manager first asked whether she had found the glasses herself.
“No, of course,” she says.
At that point, Mariana says she was cutting her losses. However, she had one recommendation for anyone planning to eat at The Oasis.
“I highly recommend going to my original video,” she says.
She then shows one of the comments, which reads, “Going to the Oasis to eat was your first mistake.”
What Do Commenters Say?
In the comments, many viewers were not exactly shocked to see The Oasis mentioned.
“As soon as I read the oasis, my eyes rolled,” one commenter wrote. “They have the worst service that I have ever experienced and their food is absolutely not worth it like people need to realize if you go to the oasis you’re literally just going to look for the view the restaurant itself the food. The service are all absolutely horrible.”
Another viewer said the same thing in fewer words.
“The food sucks there, but the view is amazing,” they wrote.
Someone else recommended skipping the restaurant side.
“Only ever go to the Oasis Brewery, never the Oasis restaurant,” they said. “Same views, but everything else is so much better.”
Have Other Oasis On Lake Travis Patrons Shared Similar Stories?
Mariana was not the only person to claim something valuable went missing at The Oasis.
One commenter on her video said, “This isn’t to one up or belittle your situation just to inform… my Louis Vuitton bag and Versace sunglasses were stolen there too and I went through the same process.”
The commenter added that they liked the brewery section better, but warned people to watch their belongings.
A TripAdvisor reviewer also warned other guests not to leave valuables on the table. According to that person, a cell phone was stolen from their table early in the evening. They said the phone was eventually found inside the restaurant after a “LONG search” because the locator app was turned on.
“So, moral of the story is DO NOT LEAVE PHONE OR ANY VALUABLES ON THE TABLE,” the reviewer wrote.
A Yelp reviewer also described an issue after hosting a wedding there. The reviewer said they hired DigiKnot cameras for guests to take photos and ordered 10 cameras, but ended up with nine.
“I KNOW no one from my small wedding would steal a camera,” the reviewer wrote.
The reviewer said photos from the missing camera appeared to show employees in the catering office, and they believed someone who worked there either took it or forgot to return it. According to the reviewer, they had to pay $150 for the missing camera.
“This truly does not sit well with me,” they wrote.
