Man Glides Through Piccadilly Circus on a Wheel-Free Hoverboard with a DeLorean

In honor of Back to the Future day, Jason Bradbury pulled a Marty McFly–and no, I don’t mean he travelled back in time and almost became his own father. He went out, in full Future Marty getup, and rode a hoverboard around Piccadilly Circus, complete with a glowing DeLorean. Please note that when I say hoverboard, I absolutely do not mean those wheeled contraptions that everyone seems to have these days. I’m talking a Mattel-style hoverboard, y’all.

Okay. So judging by the video (and physics), he’s not actually floating. Duh. But if I could pull back the curtain a little bit, you should note his stiff left arm holding on to the DeLorean. I don’t know for sure, but it definitely looks like a variation on the “floating busker” illusion you see all the time in tourist locales. It’s a very clever illusion, one that’s obviously super effective as a person or two in the video goes running after Bradbury to catch a video.

I mean, how great is this shot?

The search, the hope, the dream for a real hoverboard continues. Sigh.
