The Most Dangerous Pants Ever? The Internet Is Sharing Its Close Calls While Wearing These ‘Death Pants’
The Zara Death Pants Are Causing Injuries Left and Right, and People Have Thoughts

Fashion is fun, but it can also be dangerous, at least according to the internet. Numerous people online are sharing their close calls while wearing Zara’s wide-legged trousers, reporting falls and injuries. It seems that those wide legs are a tripping hazard, earning the trousers the nickname “Zara Death Pants.”
Search TikTok for these death pants, and you’ll find countless videos of women falling, showing off injuries from scrapes to broken wrists, and demonstrating supposedly how the pants caused them to trip. Despite the injuries, though, many of the videos begin with the words “I love these trousers…” The comments on the videos read like a support group, as responses range from “The deadly Zara trousers claim another victim” to “LOL feeling way less bad that I ate it on the subway getting caught in these pants.”
The internet is torn over what exactly about the pants is making walking such a hazard, though. Some people have argued it’s the wide-leg trend that’s responsible, while others have placed blame on the Zara trousers themselves.
People Share Close Calls and Hacks for Walking in the Death Pants

TikTok user KristinaMichelleeee (@KristinaMichelleeee) shared how she nearly fell down the stairs after tripping over her Zara trousers. Miraculously catching the railing is the only thing that saved her. She then demonstrated how the pants made her almost go head over heels when one of the pant legs caught on the opposite foot.
Another TikTok video from Holly Gilmer (@holly_gilmer), captioned “These Zara pants need to come with a warning label because now I have a fractured knee,” shows Gilmer at the hospital and then in a wheelchair and cast.
Yet another person posted a video where an escalator caught hold of their trousers, pulling the pants down to their thighs.
However, some are sharing their hacks for safely walking in the death pants, like TikToker _maria_dalessio (@_maria_dalessio), who wrapped hair bands around the ankles of their pants before pulling the legs up to make them shorter. Others simply suggest holding the pants up while walking in them for safety.
Why Are the Zara Trousers Supposedly So Dangerous?

The flowy material of the trousers, along with the floor-grazing hems and wide legs, may all play a part in making the Zara trousers a tripping hazard. However, some have argued that floor-grazing hems and puddling silhouettes are known to sometimes cause issues. This makes the trends themselves the biggest issue rather than the trousers. Others have laid the blame squarely on Zara for selling the pants.
Although the number of death pants videos has increased, it seems that Zara hasn’t released a public statement or issued a recall.
For those still brave enough to try wearing the trousers in the name of fashion, maybe look up some Zara trouser hacks beforehand, and just walk as carefully as possible.
