‘Peak influencer dystopia’: West Hollywood influencers dragged by the internet after blocking an active ambulance for a photoshoot
Footage showing a couple of California influencers seemingly interfering with an ambulance crew has caused outrage on the internet as people demand to know who the irresponsible individuals are. One TikToker claimed that the pair even blocked paramedics from transporting the patient so that they could snap their photos.
Influencers can certainly be a nuisance, but these two have taken things a little too far. The clip, which has been shared on Reddit, shows a man and a woman near the ambulance. The man can actually be seen posing inside the vehicle, appearing to smoke a cigarette while the woman takes photos of him. The caption reads, “Not everyone can be at Milan Fashion Week. Someone’s gotta influence in West Hollywood.”
The pair are then approached by a man who seems to physically push them out of the way as paramedics arrive with a man on a gurney. The couple seems to exchange a few words with the man before finally walking away. It is unclear whether they knew the man or not, but people who watched the video believe somebody should have stepped in sooner to remove the man and woman from the vehicle.
People on TikTok respond
The viral video caught the attention of TikToker “@Daadi,” who has something of a reputation for calling out the bad behavior of wannabe influencers.
He accused the pair of smoking in the ambulance and blocking the paramedics, before calling them out for having “the audacity to argue with them when they ask you to move.” He also called it “peak influencer dystopia,” asking, “Is the entire world just becoming a stage for the most vapid people imaginable to perform for their phones?”
Even Daadi’s followers, who are no doubt used to the extreme lows influencers will go to for a little bit of fame, were taken aback by the pair’s actions shown in the video. “Surely this has to be fake.” Wrote one viewer, adding, “it has to be. for my sanity it has to be.” Another said “this should be a chargeable offense.”
Funnily enough, it actually is a chargeable offense, and Daadi provides a screenshot of the penal code to prove it. According to California Penal Code section 148 (a)(1), an individual who delays or obstructs a public safety officer or emergency worker from performing their duties can be charged with a misdemeanour, which could result in a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
It’s unclear whether the influencers faced any consequences for their actions. Viewers demanded to know who it was in the video, but so far it seems people have only been able to speculate. Nobody has been able to positively confirm the identities of the man and woman for sure.
