Our sweet happy boys in love show on Netflix is coming to an end

All good things must come to an end and that does, unfortunately, include Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson’s story. Netflix’s Heartstopper will end with a film conclusion for our beloved couple.
The series, which is based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman, takes us on the love story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). While season 1 was about them falling in love with each other an admitting those feelings, the show has gone on to explore a range of issues within the LGBTQ+ community as well as show younger audiences a healthy love story between Nick and Charlie. Now, the show will conclude with a movie that is going to be executive produced by Locke and Connor.
Wash Westmoreland will direct the film and it will serve as a finale to the series, which ran for 3 seasons at Netflix. “I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story,” Oseman said. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”
There was some fear that the series wouldn’t come back given the recent success of its cast. Connor just wrapped starring in Romeo + Juliet on Broadway as well as starring in the A24 film Warfare. Locke is officially Billy Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but the two have, in the past, talked about their deserve to return as Charlie and Nick.
“I’d definitely like to do it as long as it’s done right,” Connor said in a recent interview. “I just want to make sure that we keep the heart in it. So, we are working on something, and hopefully we’re making it happen.”
This is a good thing

More often than not, we’re left with unanswered questions when our favorite shows come to an end. This doesn’t feel like a cancelation but rather Netflix and the team wrapping up Nick and Charlie’s love story how they want is kind of exciting. The show has given us beautiful characters like Yasmin Finney’s Elle Argent and the best mom around, Olivia Colman’s Sarah Nelson.
But even though this feels said because we have to say goodbye, the fact that the show is getting a movie conclusion is a nice touch. Until we know more, at least we know there is more Nick and Charlie coming our way.
