Orlando Bloom’s Return to Pirates of the Caribbean Confirmed

Drink up me hearties, yo ho.

About a year ago, Orlando Bloom talked about how he was open to the idea of doing another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Figures, then, that during this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Disney confirmed he’d be returning to reprise his role as Will Turner. The movie’s titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which leaves one to wonder: if dead men tell no tales, then why is Will Turner coming back? Don’t you kind of have to be dead to captain the Flying Dutchman?

Bloom will be joining Johnny Depp, who will once again be playing Captain Jack Sparrow (otherwise known as Pirate Keith Richards). Last year, when Bloom was still talking about possibly re-joining the franchise, he said one of the reasons he loved doing the Pirates movies so much was because he got to work with Depp.

That whole experience working with Johnny and [director] Gore [Verbinski] was really amazing for me. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.

Massive giftindeed.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled to set sail on July 7th, 2017.
