Mom cleans up after father’s grisly crime scene—the reason stunned everyone

A woman's mother on TikTok cleans up after her grandfather's murder scene all because of a shocking reason

CassDamm (@cassdamm) on TikTok shared a family story that almost convinced the internet that her mother killed her grandfather. People act out of character when under distress, but there aren’t a lot of people who’d clean up after a crime scene.

“One time, my mother got arrested for murder because she found a dead body, and instead of immediately calling the police, she decided to clean up the crime scene a little bit first,” Cass told TikTok. She would later explain that the body belonged to her mother’s father (Cass’ grandfather) and that he was a “very prideful” man. Her mother thought it would be the best idea to clean up after the crime. The house was broken into by the culprits, and it was left in shambles. Thinking that her father would not want to be seen in such a state, she decided to tidy up and make the house look presentable for the police.

It’s no surprise that when the police arrived, their first question to Cass’ mother was to ask whether or not she cleaned the house. Her mother agreed—as if her response didn’t pose any problems.

Why would anyone clean up after a crime scene?

“You cleaned up a murder scene?” The police clarified, and Cass’ mother seemed surprised that a crime took place. She even denied that it was a murder, saying that nobody would kill her father.

The police asked her mother what she thought happened, and she assumed that her father had a heart attack. Cass’ grandfather was shot in the head and was lying face down in a pool of blood. Needless to say, it wasn’t a medical condition.

The mother was asked where she thought all the blood came from.

“Do you see the size of my daddy’s nose? I just assumed that when he had the heart attack. He fell down and hit his nose on the cabinet and broke it,” Cass’ mother told the police.

Nobody on TikTok has actually seen the murder scene. But upon Cass’ description, it’s almost certain that the amount of blood lost couldn’t have been from her grandfather’s nose. Cass’ mother, though, seems to have a dark way of coping with tragedies.

Is her mother guilty of murder?

Cass’ mother would be arrested for murder, but the police also caught the actual culprits of the crime. Although the police were going to charge Cass’ mother with tampering with evidence, she testified against the killers instead. Cass recalled that the defense tried to paint her mother as responsible for the crime.

Perhaps the most hilarious part of the story is that the defense lawyer tried to frame Cass’ mother as the mastermind. This was the person who thought cleaning up after an active crime scene was a good idea.

“But my mom is not a criminal mastermind. She is genuinely just a girl who thought that her dad had a massive nose,” Cass said in her mother’s defense.

Social media ate the story up, most of them perplexed. One commenter wrote, “she sees a dead body and her first thought is “I should clean up a bit, he would hate this mess” insane behavior and I love it.”

But others were sympathetic to Cass’ mother, assuming that she probably dissociated at the time. It’s a normal reaction for the brain to shut down the feeling of overwhelming grief. Her mother was no criminal mastermind. She was just a woman coping with the loss of her father.
