Minnesota woman went in for a Solidcore class. After taking a break, her coach allegedly singled her out
Her coach had an issue with her water break.
Mallory Skaar (@mallylizzy2) from Minnesota was eager to attend a Solidcore class with a new coach. But after allegedly being singled out, Skaar told social media about her experience.
“I’m truly not one to get on the internet to complain, but I had a horrible experience at Solidcore today and feel like I just had to tell my friends,” Skaar told TikTok. She clarified that she has been going to Solidcore for two years and has taken over 250 classes.
“I love it so much. I think it’s such a great workout. It challenges me in ways I have never been challenged before,” she continued. Skaar said she was excited to go to the new professional coach’s class. Although she hadn’t taken her class before, she had seen the woman’s name on the schedule and thought about going in for a session.
The class was supposed to start at 12:15, but the coach started three minutes earlier. Skaar said she preferred it when coaches asked for people’s names in class so they could address students personally. But this coach allegedly didn’t start the class with an introduction. The coach told them they were having an arm wrap and leg wrap day, which Skaar had no issue with.
They started doing core workouts and obliques. After that, they did back-to-back leg workouts, then carriage lunges. “Once we’re on the second leg, I’m like dripping sweat. I’m dying,” Skaar said. She explained that Solidcore encouraged members to take breaks whenever they needed to.
“And I love that, because I’m a sweaty girl. I love to take a break,” Skaar added. After the second leg of the workout, Skaar left her carriage lunge and took a sip of water. She wanted to prepare before getting into bungees.
An awkward Solidcore moment
Skaar alleged that her coach had an issue with her short water break. “She proceeds to stop the whole class and go, ‘Why are we stopping early? Why are we stopping early?'” Skaar recalled. The coach allegedly spoke in a sharp tone. Skaar looked around and realized she was the only one who took a break. She claimed that her coach stood there, waiting for Skaar to return to the workout.
“We are not doing that,” the coach allegedly added, discouraging Skaar from taking a break. Skaar said she returned to her carriage lunge after feeling singled out. After that, the coach told them to proceed with bungees. “She stopped the whole class because I took a break. Hello? So, now I’m just annoyed,” Skaar reacted.
“You literally just embarrassed me in front of 20 people. Like, I’m sweaty, I needed a break, and I decided to take my break at that point,” Skaar complained. She further alleged that during their bungee session, the coach remarked, “I don’t know why we’re stopping early. I don’t understand the point of the class if I can’t tell you what to do.”
Aside from taking issue with her water break, Skaar alleged that the coach admitted to “not having a plan” for her Solidcore class while giggling. Skaar commented that as a pro coach, she should have planned the class ahead of time.
“All I know is that I will never, ever take a class from this coach again, and I had a horrible experience,” Skaar said, continuing, “Thank god I love Solidcore so much that I’m willing to go back. Solidcore has reached out to Skaar and has apologized for what happened. At the very least, Skaar didn’t fall into a fitness cult like this woman from Boston.
