Let us know what your favorite things are!

Tomorrow, we’ll be running down some of our favorite things from 2018, but now it’s time to open the floor to what your favorites have been! From big name franchises like Marvel and DC to Oscar frontrunner favorites, this year has had so much media to go through that it feels like Black Panther and the 2018 Oscars happened, well, five years ago. Seriously, has this year been the longest on record? Asking for a friend.

Marvel had a banner year in the first half of 2018, with Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and The Wasp. Even as Netflix snapped most of their live-action properties out of existence, they still kept the conversation going with the promotion beginning for Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, the announcement of several new series on Disney+, and the critical and commercial smash hit of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Even as the franchise lost icon Stan Lee, they still kept going. Excelsior, indeed.

Star Wars skipped the annual December film for May’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Star Wars Rebels ended, Thrawn and Vader traded barbs in Thrawn: Alliances, and pilots took to the skies with Star Wars Resistance. We’re still waiting for info on Star Wars: Episode IX, but get ready for the end of the Skywalker Saga in 2019, which is something I’m definitely not emotionally prepared for.

Other big hits include the DCEU taking the world by storm with Aquaman, Disney continuing to make box office gold with films like The Incredibles 2 and Mary Poppins Returns, and Netflix continuing a quest for world domination via their huge number of scripted series, including new favorites The Haunting of Hill House and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Horror saw a huge boom at the box office this past year (more on that tomorrow), and the box office actually ranked in about 11 billion dollars total for the entire year, proving that movie going experiences are not dead.

What were your favorite films and TV shows of the past year? Let us know in the comments, and check back tomorrow for rundowns of our favorite 2018 things as we ring in a new year full of superheroes, Jedi, and maybe like five minutes where the news cycle calms the hell down. Happy New Year, Suevians!!
