Marjorie Taylor Greene’s not the only disillusioned Republican — more resignations are looming

Donald Trump and others from his party wouldn’t admit it now, but Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation from Congress is one of the biggest blows to the GOP. Until recently, she was one of the most outspoken supporters of the Republican Party and the MAGA movement, consistently backing Donald Trump without exception, but now things have changed.
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s transformation from a strong supporter of Donald Trump to a vocal critic of him and his administration has been a topic of interest, particularly among those who lean Democratic. Recently, after receiving significant criticism from Trump, who repeatedly referred to her as “Marjorie Traitor Greene” for her opposition to him and other Republican colleagues, Greene announced her resignation from her position as U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district, effective January 5, 2026.
Now, just a few days after Taylor Greene’s resignation, reports have surfaced suggesting that several other Republicans may soon follow her lead and resign. An unnamed source, allegedly a senior House Republican, recently told Punchbowl News:
“More explosive early resignations are coming. It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out.”
They also said:
“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen. That is the sentiment of nearly all — appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file. The arrogance of this White House team is off putting to members who are run roughshod and threatened.”
A lot of people are currently observing Marjorie Taylor Greene’s anti-Trump stance and believe she has changed, but many, especially those leaning Democratic, have warned against making such assumptions. This is because Taylor Greene continues to hold the same problematic views she did as a Republican; it is only in certain areas that she disagrees with Donald Trump and her other party members, which does not necessarily make her a good person.
