Man buys a box of Kroger pop tarts, suspects something missing. Then he unpacks it on camera and gets baffled: ‘Not the real ones’

Sometimes, the extra fifty cents is worth paying.

When shoppers opt for generic store brands over name-brand staples, they usually expect a minor difference in frosting or texture. But what if you find an entire portion missing in your sealed packet?

Creator David (@thewrldofdavid) was left in disbelief after he unboxed a budget-friendly Kroger’s breakfast pastries and found a foul pouch notably lighter than promised. He bought the box of Kroger-brand Frosted Toaster Treats from Ralphs, and unboxed it on camera after he spotted an indentation in the silver wrapping.

What emerged from the foil was a single full chocolate pastry accompanied by a tiny, broken third of another. This prompted him to call out the grocery chain and question whether generic snacks are worth the savings.

A real-time unboxing exposed s missing pastry portion

Determined to document the packaging error without anyone accusing him of staging it, David held the unopened foil up to the lens to show the sunken gap in the packaging. The foil clung flat where a complete second rectangular pastry was supposed to sit.

“They only gave me one and a half Pop-Tarts in this package,” David said while peeling back the foil wrapper. “And I took it out of the box, and it’s supposed to be two full Pop-Tarts, but if you can see, the first one is literally only half… it’s like someone already ate it, you know what I mean?”

Once the wrapper was pulled apart, the actual pastry proved even smaller than his initial estimate. Resting against a whole pastry was a jagged, frosted chunk that amounted to barely a fraction of a full serving. “Someone deada** literally like ate the fucking half of the Pop-Tart. There’s not even half of one, maybe like one-third.”

The price difference sparked second thoughts about off-brand staples

Holding the broken tart up, David voiced the shared frustration of anyone who has ever tried to trim down their bill only to get shortchanged. While name-brand snacks carry higher price tags, they at least guarantee full portions per packet.

“What’s going on?” he asked, waving the box of chocolate fudge treats. “Like, maybe I should never get the off-brand Pop-Tarts ever again, ‘cause I got these from Ralph’s. They not the real ones. They were just a lot cheaper, you feel me?”

Leaving the floor open to his followers, he asked how shoppers are supposed to navigate such errors when even sealed snacks show up incomplete. And lets be real, we have all felt the pinch at the register lately. But when your cost-cutting measure results in a sealed bag holding what looks like an afternoon snack someone forgot to finish, the bargain starts to feel like a prank.
