Blathering Blatherskite! Lin-Manuel Miranda Joins DuckTales as Gizmoduck

Recommended Videos

While reboot fatigue has been prevalent these days, we’re been ridiculously excited for Disney XD’s DuckTales, which boasts an amazing voice cast that includes Bobby Moynihanm, Ben Schwartz, Danny Pudi, Kate Micucci, Toks Olagundoye, Beck Bennett, and David Tennant. Along with an awesome and hilarious trailer, it was tough to imagine a more perfect group—that is, until it was announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton, Moana, and the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns will be joining the cast as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, aka Gizmoduck, the brilliant young intern working for Gyro Gearloose.

The two will be trying to quack the case (I’m sorry) on building a Gizmo suit in Scrooge McDuck’s lab. We know Gyro Gearloose will appear in the show, but his voice actor is currently unknown.

If you’re screaming with joy, you’re not the only one. Miranda finally got to break the news today and he’s just as excited as us, if not ten times more.

In a press release, executive producer Matt Youngberg said, “Lin came to mind instantly for the role of Gizmoduck. His rapid-fire earnestness paired with his wide-eyed yet determined optimism made him the perfect person to yell ‘BLATHERING BLATHERSKITE!'” We definitely agree that this is casting is flawless and Miranda fits the bill (JK not sorry at all) perfectly. Hopefully there’ll be another theme song recording with Miranda?

Co-producer and story editor Francisco Angones also shared that he hopes Miranda’s Gizmoduck will be positive representation for children watching the show. “Growing up as a Cuban-American comics enthusiast, I was always hungry for a Latino hero to call my own,” he says. “In developing the new series, Matt and I leapt at the opportunity to adapt [a] DuckTales marquee hero into a young scientist character with Latin-inspired roots.”

Are you excited to see Lin-Manuel Miranda yell “BLATHERING BLATHERSKITE”?
