Kay Jewelers worker helps Georgia couple pick out rings. The performance after took him off guard: ‘Why the hell would he propose IN the store’

Most couples wait to get engaged at a separate venue after picking out their rings. However, one man couldn’t wait and decided to make it official just moments after buying the ring at Kay Jewelers in Locust Grove, Georgia.
In a video with over 8.5 million views, TikToker and Kay Jewelers worker Justin (@justgambles) captures the moment one of his customers starts serenading his fiancée-to-be. At the end of the song, the man gets on one knee and presents the ring to his partner.
On-screen text reads, “POV: When yo customer starts singing his heart out then propose to his wife.”
The woman accepts the proposal and the couple hugs after the emotional moment. The Kay Jewelers workers celebrate alongside the couple.
What do viewers think of the Kay Jewelers proposal?
In the comments, viewers react to the spontaneous proposal, taking guesses at why the man picked the store as the engagement venue.
“He did it inside the jewelry store in case she said no,” one jokes.
Another wonders, “So now what? They just walk out to the parking lot and get in the car like normal? This is too much and not enough at the same time.”
Others point out the Kay Jewelers worker’s enthusiasm.
A commenter writes, “Why are you ad libbing in the back ground.”
“I KNOW he wanted to cuss you out,” a second says about the worker’s enthusiastic remarks during the serenade.
“Just hootin and hollering during her proposal,” a third says.
Do couples usually go ring shopping together?
Other viewers question why the couple decided to go engagement ring shopping with each other in the first place. They point out that many prospective proposers decide to surprise their partner with a ring of their choosing.
However, ring shopping as a couple is surprisingly common. One bride on the r/EngagementRings subreddit questions her decision to ring shop with her fiancé after her friend told her not to. Commenters weigh in, sharing the reasons they went with their partner to shop.
“The proposal should be a surprise but the ring should not IMO!! Esp if your partner has bad taste in jewelry hahaha I fear to think what mine would’ve picked if left to his own devices. They can use their imaginations to plan the proposal instead!” one writes.
Another suggests, “You’re the one who is wearing it for the rest of their life, I am a strong believer that you should get a say.”
“The engagement is a conversation, ring shopping is a team effort, and the proposal is a surprise,” a third adds.
