We know that Jason Segel has said he won’t be returning to do another Muppets film but he may have to have a change of heart if he ever wants Hillary Clinton to star alongside him. The actor has mentioned several times in the press that he’d love a chance to work with the Secretary of State and she’s finally given him an answer. And it’s pure comedy gold.

We’re of the mind that Clinton has one of the best senses of humor around these days. She may be an incredibly busy woman but her (and her staff) take the time to keep an eye on pop-culture happenings around the world in addition to their formal duties. You may remember her getting in on the incredible meme that was Texts From Hillary, well the fun doesn’t stop there.

“The writer-actor had mentioned a few times that he’d love to work on screen with the iconic Washingtonian, telling Us Weekly in March that he felt she had a knack for comedy and that he tells people Clinton is the mysterious, titular mother is in How I Met Your Mother.,” writes the Hollywood Reporter. “Always one to keep her ear to the ground — she has to monitor chatter from around the world, after all — Clinton caught wind of Segel’s messages and penned him a sweet yet crushing rejection letter.” Here it is:

I was delighted to read about your interest in sharing the big screen with me. As you can imagine, I am a little occupied at the moment, but perhaps someday I can help you forget Sarah Marshall … again. My only condition is that there be Muppets involved, and that is non-negotiable. In the meantime, you have my best wishes for continued success with your career.

Hillary Clinton wins the internet.

Segel’s newest film, The Five-Year Engagement with Emily Blunt, is in theaters now. His next film, This is 40, will be released in December.
