‘He’s more confused than we are’: Colorado woman horrified to find stranger sleeping on their couch after housemate supposedly left the door open
It’s not every day you wake up to a stranger sleeping on your couch, but a woman in Colorado experienced exactly that, coming downstairs to find a man snug as a bug and snoozing on the sofa. When she checked with her housemates and found out they knew nothing, she quickly realized she had a situation on her hands.
The viral clip posted by Emerson currently has around 16 million views. It shows a group chat message that reads, “Guys, there is a guy on our couch,” followed by a bunch of laughing emojis. But it was no laughing matter, as the group of women soon realized that nobody in the house knew who the man was.
The women perch on the stairs and peek around to see the stranger, whom they assume broke into their home, still asleep in their living room. Another screenshot of the chat shows one of the housemates asking, “Who left the door open last[?]”
After an extended period of time freaking out and wondering what to do, the women decide to stay out of sight while using a remote to turn the TV on and wake the man up.
The man wakes up, and things get stranger
The plan works, with the man stumbling out of his makeshift bed to unplug the TV, to the surprise of the house occupants. He seems bewildered as he wanders around the room before opening the front door and stepping outside, and spotting the Ring door cam. However, the man isn’t done, as not long after, he returns.
Emerson noted, “he seems more confused than we are.” After a little more aimless wandering in the front room, he opens the door and leaves for good. However, Emerson and her housemate aren’t ready to let him go without finding out who he is and how he got in, so they begin tailing him in their car.
The women call out to him from the vehicle, asking, “Why the f–k were you on our couch?” The man doesn’t respond, throwing up his hands indifferently as he continues to walk. The women can be heard giggling as they tell him, “Walk all the way home; we’re going to follow you and figure out who you are.”
Viewers were divided on the situation. Some blamed the housemates for supposedly leaving the door unlocked, while others speculated that the man likely didn’t know how he ended up on their couch himself. Some asked why the women waited until after he left to confront him, while others pointed out that the man could have been dangerous, likening it to the case of the Idaho four.
Others suggested that the group could look back on the Ring door cam to find out when he entered and if he entered with anyone.
